A tranquil library filled with books on wooden shelves, offering a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Have you ever heard of someone raving about a book so much you just have to read it? Only to start it, and just not be impressed? Or maybe you’ve had the opposite where you started it and couldn’t put it down and hated when you got to the end of the series?

It’s always great when you find that perfect series, and such a bummer when you have to add a book to the DNF (Did Not Finish) shelf.

Hi, my name is Jessica, but you can call me Jess. I love reading and talking about books. But my love for book wasn’t always a thing, it actually didn’t start until I was in high school.

In fact, it all started with Kill and Tell by Linda Howard. The book was given to me by one of my high school teachers, as she thought that I would enjoy the story. Sure enough, my teacher was right!

I couldn’t put the book down! I sparked something in me, and I went on a hunt for all of Linda Howard’s books. And after that I was hooked!

Over the years I have read a variety of different books from various genres. Some great books, some okay books, and some not so great books. Reading a little bit of everything has helped me learn a lot about myself, and has served as a positive outlet to destress from the day.

I’ve discovered that I am what I like to call a ‘mood reader’. What I am currently reading usually directly correlates to my mood. Which means that my favorite genre also bounces around based upon what I am feeling. Overall though, I think that it generally is romance (but if you ask me again in 3 months it might be something different).

Either way, if there is a book out there, regardless of genre, chances are I will probably pick it up and read it.

And if you’re wondering exactly how many book I’ve read over the years, and why you should be reading reviews from Darling Reviews, let me share a few of my book stats.

In 2023 I read 275 books. From Red Queen to Den of Vipers.
In 2024 I read 210 books, from Pro-Gamers to Out of the Mountains of Shadow.
And for 2025, I am currently reading book number 112.

I have read over 813 days in a row, with 200 weeks of reading consistently.

I read on various book formats; kindle, paperback, and audio. I think each one serves a different purpose.

For example, I often listen to audiobooks while I clean the house or while I am out on a walk.
Because I’m a mother of 3, it seems like I’m always on the go, so reading via kindle means I have a book everywhere I go.
However, I do also love to snuggle up in my reading chair with a good book at loose myself in the world before me.

Most of these books have been in physical print, but some have also been read via digital media.

Point is, I’m almost always reading!

So, if you are looking to pick reading back up after a few years, or trying to give the reading hobby a try for the first time; Darling Reviews is for you! Whether you’re an avid reader, just staring out, or somewhere in between, Darling Reviews is for you!

At Darling Reviews you will get honest book reviews from nearly every genre and category out there. Our reviews provide some quick facts and summary, as well as a deep dive into the character development, key plot points, main take-a-ways, and some favorite quotes.
